How to find your special talent

unrecognizable woman with curly hair

Every person on this earth has a special talent that is uniquely theirs. We are all good at something and because we are highly unique individuals, your talent is uniquely yours.

You may think that when there are almost 7 billion people in the world, how can my talent be unique? Surely, there is someone out there who is good at what I’m good at. While that may be true, nobody will do what you do best the way you do it.

You are unique

There is no-one like you. Even identical twins have differences. They have different finger prints and they have different gut bacteria. The composition of your gut bacteria has a major influence on your health and your behaviour. When you talk about your “gut feeling” it is almost to be taken quite literal, because your gut bacteria influences how you feel and therefore your behaviour.

So, you are unique.

What are you good at?

What is your talent and how do you find it? Maybe you have already found it and are doing some great work out there. In that case, I celebrate you. But if you are like most people, you haven’t found what is your unique talent. I have an exercise for you.

This exercise is best done with someone you trust. So, grab a friend and start asking each other these set of questions. Discuss the answers and see what emerges as a result:

  • What do others tell you that you are good at?
  • What do you love doing?
  • What is most important to you?
  • If this was the last day of earth, what would you do?
  • If money wasn’t an issue, what would you be doing?
  • If time wasn’t an issue, what would you do?

Beware of pitfalls

Before you start answering these questions there are some things to be aware of. The reason most of us haven’t found our special talent is because of limiting beliefs, insecurities or fear.

So, before you start set yourself up for success. Find a calm space to be, where you wont be interrupted. Put up some candles and nice lighting. Get a blanket or whatever you need to feel good and comfortable. Then take a deep breathe and relax your body.

When you answer the questions, let the answers flow from your heart. If you can sense that you are holding back or your start thinking “no, I can’t do that” -> STOP. This is your fear or limiting beliefs shining through. We want those voices to stay outside. Tell them to stay outside for the next 10 min and not bother you. Give them a job to do and give your friend permission to call them out if s/he hear the voices creeping up again.

Have fun with it and please share your experience with me. I would love to know.

If you dont want to do this with a friend, but rather with me as your coach – then please let me know. You can book your complimentary Get Real session and we can get started to find your unique talents. I can’t wait to hear from you.
