Nutrition

Let’s talk about food and nutrition. There is no way around it. Taking good care of yourself also means treating your body with self care. It can be so hard to find out what is right to eat, but don’t worry, there is a way. And a great bonus from eating better is that you will feel great and potentially prevent and even reverse disease.

I don’t care much for calorie counting or restriction. It is all about choosing the right food. These are the simple rules I like to follow when it comes to nutrition:  Eat more fruits and veggies, eat less simple carbs and processed foods. Drink more water and less carbonated drinks. Try to eat as close to nature as possible. Our bodies are made from nature so what do you think our bodies thrive on? Something made by someone in a lab coat or by Mother Nature itself? I love Michael Pollans approach. He says; Eat real food, not too much, mostly plants. It’s simple and easy to understand.

Try to eat as colourful and varied as possible. Think of a rainbow with all its colours. The ideal is to eat all colours throughout the day. Every colour has its beneficial properties and all serve a specific purpose inside your body. It is also important to think about variety. If you go to Disneyland, you want to try all the rides, right? You don’t want to keep spinning around the same ride. Eating is a bit the same. If you only eat apples and bananas you miss out on all the other beautiful nutrients out there that your body would love.

I do not recommend special diets or any one-fits-all solutions. We are all unique individuals and have very different needs. Our diet and lifestyle is no different. I teach bio-individuality which means there is no perfect diet for everyone. One persons food can be another persons poison. Never compare yourself to others. Our coaching sessions will also focus on you as an individual.
